Seasonal allergy prevention tips to keep you healthy all season long!
Along with spring flowers, the spring season brings dust and pollen. The season for itchy eyes, sneezing, and runny noses is here. Make sure to take control of your symptoms and check out these tips to help reduce your seasonal allergies.
Filter Your Air.
Dust, pollen, mold spores, and dander all float around your home. Help reduce their presence with a high-powered air filter. A high-efficiency particulate air filter (HEPA) can clean the air. With cleaner air in your home, you’ll reduce your exposure to allergens which will reduce your symptoms.
Leave Pollen Outside.
Pollen is sticky. As you go about your day, it sticks to you. It stays on your clothes, your hair, and your skin. To minimize the pollen that you bring into your home, be sure to take off your shoes at the door. Additionally, be sure to change clothes. That way you lessen your exposure.
Check The Pollen Count.
Before you head out for the day, keep an eye on the pollen count in your area. On days with more pollen, take precautions. Limit the time that you spend outside. If you must be outside, be sure to wear a mask.
Dehumidify Your Home.
Humidity can make your allergies worse. Make sure to invest in a dehumidifier. Ensure that the humidity level in your home is less than 60 percent to keep your allergies in check.
Wash Up Before Bed.
Since pollen sticks to you throughout the day, it’s important to wash it off before you get to bed. If you don’t shampoo prior to sleeping, you may get pollen all over your pillow which you can then get all over your face, making your allergies worse. Shower before bedtime to ensure that your allergies won’t flare up.
